Another one of the keys to internet marketing success is effective video marketing. I place a big emphasis on the word ‘effective’ because there are far too many Internet marketers out there who do not maximise the power of video to promote their website, products and services.

This builds upon my other post about effective article marketing which when combined with effective video marketing, can be devastatingly powerful for your website’s success. This is something to keep in mind as you read this post.

Keyword Research

It’s amazing how many things in Internet marketing come back to keyword research and video marketing is no different. This is truly the fundamental key to online success. Choose the wrong keywords, and no matter how well you market with those keywords, you won’t be successful. But if you choose the right keywords, with a bit of effective marketing, you can drive loads of traffic to your website.

Focusing on video marketing, you simply need to do keyword research to find those keywords which people are searching for and which you can use for your video. There are 2 ways to use them for your video:

  • You can find good keywords and create a video around those keywords
  • You can create a video and then find the right keywords to promote it

It’s up to you which one you choose.

Keep in mind that the types of keywords people search for in a search engine such as Google will be the same as the ones they search for in a video sharing website such as YouTube. It isn’t uncommon for videos to show up on page 1 of Google these days.

Content + Call To Action

Creating a video with good content is important. If you don’t have this, people will switch off and will never go to your website.

The goal of a video should be to direct visitors to your website, preferably a sales page.

Don’t try to sell them a product or service via the video. (You may do this if your video is explicitly a sales video).

Instead, your best bet is to direct them to your website and that’s where you can pitch them a product or service. You can direct them by verbally mentioning your website or by putting your website URL at the bottom of the video itself.

A effective way of getting people to visit your website is by giving them a teaser in the video and asking them to visit your website if they want to see the second part of the video or find more information.

It’s All About SEO

When you submit a video to a video sharing website such as YouTube, you have to be absolutely certain that you put your target keywords in 3 places:

  • The title tag
  • The description
  • Tags

While there should obviously be 1 primary keyword, it’s always good to add other related keywords and this is what the ‘tags’ section is for.

By adding your keywords, you are making sure that your video is optimised for the search engines. This is key for effective video marketing.

(Don’t forget to add your website URL to the description section.)

Video Distribution Channels

Let’s say that you’ve created a video and submitted it to YouTube all optimised for the search engines. Most people just stop there and proceed to create another video.

However, you must not forget that YouTube is 1 video sharing website. Yes, it’s true that it is the biggest out there but there are other major players too. For example, Dailymotion, Viddler, Vimeo and MetaCafe. There are also hundreds of other small players in the industry.

What you want to do with a single video is to distribute it to as many video sharing websites on the Internet as possible. For obvious reasons, you should focus on the big ones first and then go for the smaller ones if you want.

The good news is that, just like for article marketing, there are also submission services for video. The best one out there, in my opinion, is TubeMogul. It’s free to use and submits videos to an extensive network of video sharing websites.

Time To Start Creating

It’s time to get those cameras out and start creating some great content. With the knowledge you now have about effective video marketing, you cannot make excuses for not driving a lot of traffic to your website.

Key Secrets to Using Free Videos That Will Get You Noticed

An expensive but necessary part of your home business is advertising. Advertising is what allows potential clients and customers know your services and products are available. Without advertising, those same potential customers will probably not even know your business exists.

The great thing about the Internet is not only is it used for entertainment, but it is used to inform and advertise too. That is what you should aim to do by creating several videos about different aspects of your business. Not only is it an effective way of advertising, but most video hosting sites will allow you to post your advertising videos free of charge.

If it is within your budget, you would be best off using a high quality digital camera to create your videos. This way your videos are going to be high quality also. However, if money is tight, you can use a regular camera, a cell phone camera, or even a web camera connected to your computer to shoot your videos. Although the main goal should be to attract attention, looking professional while doing so is also important.

Your appearance in the video also should accurately portray the image you would like for your business. If you want to come across as professional, than you should wear business attire; if you want more of a casual feel to the videos, you can wear pretty much anything within reason.

Use content in your video that is relevant to your business. In other words, if you are making videos for an accounting business, your video could be about ways for clients to save time and money on their taxes. People love to learn how to save money and save time. Make your videos entertaining. While people might watch your videos and listen to you read the information to them, you will be much more successful in making a lasting impression if you keep them from getting bored.

One final thing to keep in mind is that you will not get rich over night with video marketing. You will have to put a lot of effort into making quality videos, as well as marketing the videos to your target audience. One simple way to market your videos is by posting links on popular social networking sites. If you also write articles and link them to your videos, you will increase traffic to both of them.

You can attract a lot of traffic and leads making free videos, but without continued training and development you might as well just flush those leads down the drain. So work hard, keep up on your training, and interact on a regular basis with industry leaders and you’ll be on your way to a lucrative career.
